Fairmont Park hosts a number of events throughout the year. It’s a community meeting point that everyone can enjoy. TRAX conveniently stops right in front of the park, dropping you off to a beautiful green space with an aquatic center, newly renovated pond, skate park, playground, pavilions for picnics and a fenced in off-leash dog park! You could say it’s got it all, plus a weekly farmer’s market (that’s us!). Every Wednesday from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM farmers, food purveyors, artists, crafters and local businesses come together. Farmers’ sell their freshly harvested fruits and vegetables and local artists sell handmade items that are unique and one-of-a-kind. Each week at the farmer’s market, we like to feature a vendor, host family-friendly events and meet community members. We always have a local band playing tunes while you shop or as entertainment, so that you can rest mid-week and sit in the green grass in front of the stage and munch on something yummy from a local food truck.
Needless to say, Fairmont Park provides a lot for the community of Sugar House. It bridges unconventional meet-ups, hosts the SHFM, gives kiddos a space to play, provides the grounds for infamous weekend soccer games and is overall an awesome place to hangout to enjoy the company of ducks in the pond or a best friend. With so many activities going on, sometimes the park needs a little TLC. Fairmont Freinds is an organization set-up by Sugar House council members who graciously donate their time on Saturdays or Sundays to pick-up trash in the park or work on park projects.
We encourage all of those who visit Fairmont Park to take part in this opportunity because the park wouldn't be so picturesque if it wasn't for the hardworking volunteers. Donating your free time is one of the best ways to actively stay involved within your community and also is a great way to make new friends! Signing up is effortless. All that is required is to fill out a volunteer form found on this website here. After you have done that, you can pick the sign-up dates posted here that work best with your schedule. Now thats all done, all you have left to do is show up, have a blast, and meet some awesome new people!
